Matt Friend is a licensed builder, qualified carpenter, and founder of Friend Building Group, bringing more than 25 years of hands‑on construction experience across New South Wales and Queensland.

Before relocating to the Whitsundays in late 2025, Matt built his career delivering projects throughout Sydney, Wollongong, the Illawarra and regional New South Wales. Over the years he has worked across residential, commercial, aged care, hospitality, education and large‑scale construction sectors, progressing from apprentice carpenter to site supervisor, general foreman, builder and business owner.

Matt has successfully delivered projects ranging from custom home renovations, decks, pergolas and extensions through to multi‑million‑dollar commercial developments, retirement villages, pubs, clubs, apartment buildings and specialist facilities. His experience includes senior roles with some of Australia's most respected construction companies, where he was responsible for managing subcontractors, quality control, safety, programming and project delivery.

Now based in the Whitsundays, Matt combines big‑project experience with a practical, hands‑on approach that local property owners value. Whether it's a deck overlooking the water, a renovation, insurance repair, maintenance project or a major residential upgrade, Matt is committed to delivering quality workmanship, honest advice and clear communication from start to finish.
